- Notes: Sean Fleming and his Red Hot Peppers band play ragtime and Dixieland on September 10 in Searsport Sean Fleming and his Red Hot Peppers band will play Dixieland and ragtime on Sunday, September 10, at 3 p.m. at the Searsport First Congregational Church, 8 Church St. Included will be pieces originally played by “Jelly Roll” Morton, Louis Armstrong, Scott Joplin, the New Orleans Rhythm Kings, and more. Such early Dixieland-style hits as “The Chant,” “Black Bottom Stomp,” “Tiger Rag,” and more will be played. Come tap your feet as the band plays hits from the dawn of the jazz age. The Red Hot Peppers band for this concert will include the same instrumental configuration that “Jelly Roll” Morton used in his trend-setting Red Hot Peppers in the 1920s; with Sean Fleming on piano, Phil Clement on banjo and guitar, Glen Sargent on clarinet, Allen Millett on drums, Doug Kennedy on trombone and double bass, Peter Stuart on trumpet, and Anne-Marie D’Amico on tuba. This concert is sure to be a favorite for people of all ages! Plan to come early to guarantee your seating; admission is by donation at the door, with proceeds to go to the FCC Church and Community music programs, and to help defray the cost of the concert series.
