- Notes: Sean Fleming will present an organ recital on the historic four-manual Casavant pipe organ at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston on Wednesday, August 14 at 12:15 p.m. Works will include Prelude and Fugue in C Major, BWV 545 by Johann Sebastian Bach, Organ Sonata No.3 in C Minor, Op.56 by Alexandre Guilmant, and Offertoire in E Flat Major by César Franck. Installed in 1938, the Casavant organ at the basilica is the largest church organ in Maine, and second in size to only the Kotzschmar organ at Merrill Auditorium, Portland. The instrument has been played by many of the world’s leading organists; including the great French organist, Marcel Dupre, and Dr. Charles-Marie Courboin.
