- Notes: Wild Things, a concert to benefit the Lincoln County Animal Shelter will be presented on Sunday, November 23rd at the Second Congregational Church in Newcastle. Pieces with themes of animals and nature will be performed. Presenters will include John David Adams, Peter Asche, Kitty Breskin, the Candelia Flute Quartet, Sean Fleming, Kelly Patton-Brook, Carol Preston, the St. Cecilia Chamber Choir, Nan White, and more. Works will include several selections from Saint-Saëns’ The Carnival of the Animals in arrangements for four-hand piano, Daniel Pinkham’s Dragons and the Deeps for F tuba and organ, Rimsky-Korsakov;s The Flight of the Bumblebee, a movement from the Brahms horn trio in E-flat major, Sam Pottle’s Jabberwocky for mixed chorus, Glinka’s The Lark in a transcription for piano by Balakirev, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Daniel Dorff’s Year of the Rabbit, and a special performance of Peter and the Wolf for wind quintet and viola.
