- Notes: Sean Fleming and the Dam ‘Rag Orchestra Present “Real Ragtime” Friday, October 28 @ 7:30PM Sean Fleming, the “Dam’ Rag Scotta Orchestra,” the “Raggy Dancers,” and the Lincoln Theater are finalizing their preparations for the “Real Ragtime” concert on Friday, Oct 28 at 7:30PM. During its heyday, roughly spanning from 1900 to 1920, Rag music was normally played as dance music. In keeping with the concert’s name of “Real Ragtime” it was decided to get even more real by including actual dancing as an integral part of the program. During the concert, there will also be a tutorial for any and all audience volunteers brave enough to learn new dance steps in front of a bunch of onlookers. For that matter, whether you know rag dancing or not, anyone is free to get up and dance to the music their own way. That is what Ragtime music is for. The concert is a benefit for upgrades to the Lincoln Theater’s audio systems. While some of this work has already been completed, more still has to be done, including purchasing the PA loudspeakers to be permanently installed. This is something the theater has been lacking which has prevented accommodating various events and hindered others from achieving better results. When this phase of the work is done, the theater will have first-class film, video, and live audio systems to help ensure an enjoyable entertainment experience for both audiences and performers alike.
